Lantau Island and Macau

The group had a free day today. Some of us took the long train ride to Lantau Island to visit the Po Lin monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha (aka Big Buddha).

View from the cable car.

Don't look down.

The Big Buddha from a few miles away. It lives up to its name.

The Emilies have never looked better.

Michelle, finding inner peace.

Huesne, monkeying around. Later, monastery security persuaded her to come down from a tree. (I'm not kidding)

He seems friendly.

Square dancing at the monastery every third Sunday.

Pat, Steph, Mark, and Charles headed out to Macau today. Macau is a second special administrative region of China, separate from Hong Kong. The region is known for its tourist industry, especially its casinos. Its culture is a mix of Chinese and Portugese.

Steph, Mark, Charles and Pat, partaking of a truly awful dim sum meal.
